The Transition… Winter to Spring
You have met yourself here many times. It’s early January. New Year, new you? New Year’s resolutions abound and there is a feeling of a fresh start. Yet, perhaps you are… tired. Even amidst all the sales, all the energies encouraging you to start anew, January 1st is not the moment.
January is a time of tilting towards the light. We are gradually shifting towards a new beginning. In the lunisolar calendar, that your body feels deeply, Spring is coming in early February. The Spring begins and the Lunar New Year launches, you will feel more momentum. Momentum doesn’t happen all at once, it builds upon itself. Now is a time to take things step by step.
We are experiencing many energetic shifts. The seasonal shift as well as astrological shifts. Whether or not you believe in astrology or this seasonal perspective, you can allow yourself to follow these patterns and life lifts a little bit.
This year, in 2026, the Lunar New Year begins on February 17th. We are shifting into a Yang Fire Horse year. Think - energy, momentum, a gallop. This is quite a large contrast from the past year’s energy, Yin Wood Snake. While the elements and animals are quite the contrast from one to the next, the energies of the Snake year have prepared you for the pace of the Horse year.
To prepare -
before the Lunar New Year it is always auspicious to
clean your house
cut your hair
purge any belongings that no longer serve
Once we launch into Spring - it is time to care for your liver
eat greens upon greens
continue eating warm cooked foods
consume some sour foods
exercise - especially cardio and stretching
get acupuncture and take your herbs
consult your practitioner to see if a cleanse is right for you
As we transition I suggest going a little more slowly. It is still winter. Leave space open in your calendar. Go to bed a little early. Take really good care.
Sending you a lot of love as you make the seasonal transition!
