What Sheila is…
Watching: I love anything that offers a "behind-the-scenes" look into a product, process or how something is made.
Recently, I've been watching lots of Eater's YouTube channel that profiles busy, buzzy restaurants from cities around the world. Seeing the intricate processes, precision and dedication of what it takes to bring some of the most intricate dishes to life is quite captivating! Come to think of it, I tend to watch a lot of food and food-network type shows-- Chopped, Master Chef, No Reservations. Oh, and The Bear, season 5!
Listening: I'm essentially always adding new songs to my library. But do you ever have a season where a particular song kind of follows you? Where you wake up and the song is in your head, and then you hear it while you're out and about, at the dentist, or the grocery store and elsewhere? Well, lately for me, that song has been "No Surprises" by Radiohead. It's definitely a part of my current soundtrack.
Reading: Between Two Kingdoms, A Memoir of a Life Interrupted by Suleika Jaouad. I've followed Suleika's journey via her public appearances for a while before reading her memoir. She always conveys such a bright light and her writing is just as tender, poetic and poignant. Her memoir is a beautiful reflection on life and the strength we pull from during our most challenging chapters.
Sheila’s Summer:
This summer we enjoyed beautiful California with our new rescue pup! We did experience a lot of firsts with him. First trip to Avenue of the Giants, first trip down the California Coast, berry picking, beaches, and camping! Summer in full swing!
